Nigel Woolmer
Senior Aviation Adviser
Nigel has 53 years experience in aviation as a multi-endorsed Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (in both Australia and the UK) and for the last 30 years in various Safety Quality management positions. Nigel began his career in the Royal Navy for 4 years before transferring to civil airlines and has further specialised in rotary wing since 1991.
He been involved in the evolution of procedures, safety management systems and currently conducts a wide range of specialised training.
Nigel has a wide range of experience including:
- The CASA Act, regulations and orders,
- the individual states and territories Occupational Health Safety and Environment regulations
- ISO 9001 for Quality Management and ISO 14001 for the Environment
- Aviation security in accordance with Commonwealth Government of Australia, Transport Security Act 2004
- Internal and external auditing programs.
A qualified Lead Auditor in Quality, Environmental and OHS management systems. Nigel has attended extensive seminars and workshops on health, safety and environment management and have extensive experience in risk and hazard assessment and management (including aviation Safety Cases.) Nigel trained in Operational Risk Management, Human Factors and Intervention strategies.
He is an approved person for CASA currently holding an Instrument of Appointment:-
- to issue Certificates of Airworthiness
- to issue Certificates of Airworthiness for Export
- to issue Special Flight Permits
- to approve Systems of Maintenance, and
- approve variations to Systems of Maintenance.
Nigel qualified as an instructor having completed ATQF IV; recreation includes playing guitar, membership in a choir, Rotarian, stained glass work and travel.
